Are there cases where an adapter for one make of vehicle (Chrysler for example) will work in a particular application for another make of vehicle (GM for example)?
Yes - a good example is the CA and CA1 developed for the GM Dodge Ram. This same adapter also works for the GM Corvette (2004 through 2006). Always try an adapter set which looks like a close match and ignore the color which indicates the vehicle model.

What adapters are being developed for release in the near future?

The No. 2 Adapter (GM 3/8 in. Quick Connect) interferes with the battery.
This adapter was revised early 2005 to add a bend (see above) to solve this problem. Call RTI to order one.

The No. 31 Adapter (Volvo 1996 and newer) isn't long enough to clear the shroud.
This adapter is being revised - click here to see new design and availability.

Why won't the ATX machine pump transmission fluid back into the car but fluid is pumping into the Waste Tank?
The car's transmission pump is responsible for pumping the waste fluid into the Waste Tank; the machine's pump is responsible for pumping it into the car's system. If the machine is not pumping it into the car's system then check the two fuses on the board. There is one 10 amp and one 5 amp. The 10 amp fuse controls the pump and the 5 amp controls the solenoid. Check to see if one or both is blown and replace as needed. To get to the fuses, remove the adapter tray from the top of the unit and the opening will allow easy access to the board.

Are there instructions for troubleshooting?
Yes. Click Here.

The ATX-2 does not contain an adapter for a 2002 Chevy Impala or the standard adapters I tried are stripping out the threads in the radiator.
A metal clip retains the cooler line in a threaded fitting on the radiator. Remove the clip and unhook the cooler line. Select the GM Adapter #2 (standard) and insert into the threaded fitting on the radiator. Reuse the clip to lock the adapter in place. Use the 3/8" hose and clamp to connect to the loose cooler line. DO NOT UNSCREW THE FITTING OUT OF THE RADIATOR. RTI DOES NOT ADAPT TO THE THREADS IN THE RADIATOR.

Can Allison Transmissions be serviced with the ATX-2?
Current versions of Allison 1000 Series Transmissions as found in the 2500HD Silverado and 3500 Sierra can be serviced with the ATX-2. Both flow rate and pressure used within these smaller transmissions will not damage the integrity or reliability of the ATX-2. Service must be limited to Allison transmissions found in smaller truck or SUV vehicles which have specifications similar to the Allison 1000 Series transmissions. The maximum vehicle pressure must be limited to systems below 100 psi.

Ford Taurus (2000+) - any special instructions?
The mounting of the cooler hose to the radiator may need explanation so that the RTI adapter can be installed. Use the No. 3 Adapter to connect the ATX-2. CLICK HERE for an illustration of the connection. Known Quality Defect - A few No. 3 Adapters have an oversized diameter on the end. This illustration shows the problem. Call RTI for a replacement if you encounter this problem.

I have a sealed transmission - will the ATX-2 do an exchange?
Maybe...It's very important to check and make sure the level of fluid in the transmission is correct BEFORE using the ATX-2 to do a fluid exchange. After the exchange procedure, the level must again be checked and fluid added or removed to obtain the correct level. This may be impossible on some vehicles with sealed transmissions. Sealed transmissions may not have dip stick for checking the level of fluid in the transmission. Electronic indications may be shown on the instrument panel - some show only that the level is low and others may indicate the actual (or approximate) level of fluid in the transmission. It's also important to check the shop manual for the vehicle to check if there is some other means of checking the fluid level. Some sealed transmissions have a plug (accessible only with the vehicle on a lift) for checking the fluid level. This plug must be removed to see if the fluid level is even with the hole.

Sometimes I get the ATX-2 connected to the cooler lines of the transmission and then need to move the vehicle to another location. Is there some easy way, other then disconnecting the ATX-2 and reconnecting the cooler lines?
Yes - there is a Bypass Adapter Hose (Part Number 300-80052-00) which can be used to connect the cooler lines together while moving the vehicle. It is a hose with quick connect fitting on both ends. Click here for a photo.

Dodge Hemi (2003 & 2004) Adapters
A special ATX adapter set is not available. Disconnect the transmission cooler line where it connects to a flexible hose (not at the radiator). Use a No. 1, 2, 3, or 4 Adapter (select to fit) and a Hose Adapter to connect the ATX.

F250 Power Stroke Diesels (2004)
Engine: 7.3 Liter   Fitting Used: A & A1 Radiator Side
Engine: 6.6 Liter  Fitting Used: #4 adapter + 1/2" Hose Adapter. There is a separation between the radiator and transmission which needs to be used. Do not separate the cooler line from the radiator to service this particular engine.

Battery is too close - #2 Adapter doesn't work on the following:
1996 and newer GM with 3/8" quick connect fitting
2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 Liter V6
